Chengdu Audio Guide
Chengdu, capital of Sichuan, keeps almost two millennia of history in its urban core. At Wuhou Shrine, Liu Bei, founder of the Shu kingdom, and his chancellor Zhuge Liang are worshipped together beside a tomb mound that in more than 1,700 years nobody has opened. At the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, the city has spent twelve centuries rebuilding the hut where the poet wrote more than 240 poems, and at Qingyang Palace worshippers still rub two bronze goats. Kuanzhai Alley is all that is left of the Manchu city raised in 1718; People's Park, opened in 1911, brings together the obelisk of the railway revolt and the Heming teahouse, and Wenshu Monastery is still active with its jade Buddhas. To the north, the Chengdu Panda Base went from six rescued pandas in 1987 to 260.

They are different experiences. The EarGuide audio guide lets you walk Chengdu without timetables or groups, pause and resume whenever you like, and replay any explanation as often as you need. It suits independent travellers, families and anyone who prefers to understand the city at their own pace, with no prior knowledge of China.
The Chengdu audio guide covers 7 main sites: Wuhou Shrine, People's Park and the Heming teahouse, Kuanzhai Alley, Wenshu Monastery, the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Qingyang Palace and the Chengdu Giant Panda Base, with stops that range from Liu Bei's tomb to the Thousand Buddhas pagoda and the panda nurseries.
Almost all of it. Kuanzhai Alley, People's Park, Qingyang Palace, the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Wuhou Shrine and Wenshu Monastery are in the centre and west of the city, between one and five kilometres from one another. The Giant Panda Base lies about ten kilometres to the north, so it is best to get there by transport.
Yes. Purchases belong to your EarGuide account, not to one app or one phone. A city unlocked in the EarGuide app is also unlocked in that city's own app, and the other way round, on both iPhone and Android. Just sign in with the same account on the other device. The store's “restore purchases” button only covers the app the purchase was made in, so signing in is what carries it across.
The Chengdu audio guide is inside the EarGuide app, free and ready to use offline. Carry it in your pocket and explore the city at your own pace.
