Seminyak Audio Guide
On Bali's south-west coast, the sea temples that tradition attributes to the priest Dang Hyang Nirartha share the sand with the Bali of surf and beach clubs. On Seminyak beach, Pura Petitenget owes its name to a chest, peti, charged with magic, tenget, and a few steps away begins Jalan Kayu Aya, the Eat Street or Oberoi Street, some two kilometres with more than fifty restaurants, bars and cafés running down to Ku De Ta, the venue credited with starting the island's beach club culture. To the south, Double Six marks the point where Legian merges into Seminyak and, by the most widespread explanation, took its name from a nightclub on the beach that has since closed; beyond it stretches Kuta Beach, two and a half kilometres of sand where Bob Koke opened the Kuta Beach Hotel in 1936 and had his surfboard brought from Hawaii. A few streets away, the Bali Bombing Memorial, raised on the site of Paddy's Pub, bears the names of the 202 people who died on 12 October 2002. To the north, in Canggu, Pura Batu Bolong, the “hollow rock” dedicated to the lord of the sea, looks out on the Old Man's longboard wave and the black volcanic sand of Echo Beach; and some twenty kilometres north-west of Denpasar, Tanah Lot, one of Bali's seven great sea temples, rises on a rock reached on foot only at low tide.

The Seminyak audio guide is available in Spanish and English, with researched, fact-checked narration on Bali's sea temples, their legends and the coast of surf and sunsets.
The audio guide brings together 7 independent routes with a little over six hours of narration in total, spread across 22 audio stops and from 20 to 90 minutes per route. They can be done separately or several chained in one day depending on the area.
They are different experiences. The EarGuide audio guide lets you explore Seminyak without timetables or groups, pause and resume whenever you like, and replay any explanation as often as you need. It suits independent travellers, families and anyone who prefers to understand Bali at their own pace, with no prior knowledge of the island.
The Seminyak audio guide covers 7 main sites: Pura Petitenget and the sunset strip, Kuta Beach, the Bali Bombing Memorial, Double Six and Legian Beach, Tanah Lot, Pura Batu Bolong and Echo Beach, and Jalan Kayu Aya, Oberoi Street.
Not all of it. Pura Petitenget and Jalan Kayu Aya are less than a kilometre apart in a straight line, and Double Six is a kilometre and a half from Jalan Kayu Aya: those three routes can be linked on foot. Kuta Beach and the Bali Bombing Memorial are about 600 metres from each other, some three kilometres south of Double Six. Pura Batu Bolong, in Canggu, is about three and a half kilometres north-west of Pura Petitenget, and Tanah Lot about ten: reaching them takes a motorbike, car or taxi.
Yes. Purchases belong to your EarGuide account, not to one app or one phone. A city unlocked in the EarGuide app is also unlocked in that city's own app, and the other way round, on both iPhone and Android. Just sign in with the same account on the other device. The store's “restore purchases” button only covers the app the purchase was made in, so signing in is what carries it across.
The EarGuide app is free and the Pura Petitenget route can be listened to without paying; the other six Seminyak routes unlock together with a single payment. Offline, at your own pace.
